Feeding Guide

How to Use Newts

A straightforward two-part system designed for professional growers. Follow these guidelines for consistent results across veg and flower.

Quick Start

Getting Started in 4 Steps

Start with clean water

Use filtered or RO water when possible. Allow water to reach room temperature before mixing nutrients.

Add Base A, then Base B

Always add Base A first, mix thoroughly, then add Base B. Never combine concentrates before diluting in water.

Add stage-specific products

Use Bloom during flower. Add Swell in the final weeks. Supplement with Cal if your water or media requires additional calcium.

Check pH and feed

Adjust pH to 5.5–6.5 before irrigating. Monitor runoff EC and adjust strength based on plant response.

Feeding Program

Recommended Weekly Schedule

Start at the lower end of the range and increase based on plant size, media, and environmental conditions. Always measure EC after mixing.

Mixing & Application Tips

Mixing order matters

Follow this sequence when building your reservoir:

  • Water
  • Base A — mix completely
  • Base B — mix completely
  • Bloom (flower only)
  • Swell (finish phase)
  • Cal (if required)
  • pH adjust last

pH & water quality

Maintaining a pH range of 5.5 to 6.5 is crucial for plants to absorb essential nutrients efficiently. Test pH after all products are added and before every feed.

Powder vs. liquid

Powder: Dissolve fully before adding to the reservoir. Liquid: Pour measured amounts directly — see our Liquid Formula page for available sizes.

Commercial Cal

Use Commercial Cal for scale operations or when targeting elevated calcium levels. Monitor EC closely when introducing any new additive.

FAQs

Common Questions

No. Base A and Base B are designed to work together as a two-part system. Using one without the other will result in imbalanced nutrition.

Introduce Bloom at the onset of flower, typically when you change your photoperiod or when pre-flower formation begins. Increase rates through mid-flower, then taper Base B in late flower while maintaining Bloom and adding Swell.

Bloom is a PK booster used throughout flowering to support development and yield. Swell is a premium flower enhancer used in the final weeks to improve density, terpene expression, and overall finish quality.

Base A provides essential calcium, but some water sources and growing conditions require additional supplementation. Test your runoff and consult with your grow team to determine if Cal is needed.
